4A All-Idaho football team: The top awards for the classification’s top 49 players

4A ALL-IDAHO PLAYER OF THE YEAR
Peter Minnaert, Bishop Kelly
The senior running back topped the 4A classification with 1,646 rushing yards and 30 touchdowns on 166 carries, averaging 9.9 yards per carry. He racked up 138 rushing yards and three TDs in Bishop Kelly’s state championship win over Hillcrest.
“Peter was the best back we saw all year and a huge reason BK beat us in the state title game,” Hillcrest coach Brennon Mossholder said. “He is patient, physical and has a nasty jump cut.”
COACH OF THE YEAR
Brennon Mossholder, Hillcrest
Two years removed from a winless season, he led the Knights to a state championship appearance and a 12-1 record.
FIRST TEAM
OFFENSE
QB: Peyton King, Hillcrest
The Knights’ dual-threat senior threw for 1,836 yards and 18 TDs. He also rushed for 819 yards and seven more scores.
RB: Amani Morel, Skyline
The 6-foot, 210-pound sophomore totaled 1,452 rushing yards and 20 TDs, and added 602 receiving yards and six more TDs.
RB: Ryken Echohawk, Pocatello
He ended his career as Pocatello’s all-time leading rusher with 3,676 yards and 35 TDs. He had 1,001 yards and eight TDs in 2023.
WR: Gatlin Bair, Burley
Facing double teams every play, the Power 5 recruit hauled in 52 catches for 832 yards and 10 TDs, and rushed for four TDs.
WR: Julian Bowie, Pocatello
The 6-3, 195-pound Boise State basketball commit recorded 33 catches for 575 yards and eight touchdowns as a senior.
WR: Cooper Cammann, Bishop Kelly
The senior saw time at QB, corner and in the return game, but shined at receiver with 34 catches for 734 yards and 10 TDs.
OL: Rakeem Johnson, Bishop Kelly
The 6-3, 255-pound senior had 34 pancake blocks and allowed a single sack while clearing the way for BK’s 2,888 rushing yards.
OL: Phil Janquart, Bishop Kelly
The 6-0, 245-pound center was part of a line that allowed one sack and paved the way for 2,888 rushing yards.
OL: Sam Buck, Emmett
With 62 pancake blocks and zero sacks allowed, the 6-2, 240-pound junior helped the Huskies average 6.2 yards per carry.
OL: Cole Maddux, Hillcrest
A three-year starter at left guard, the senior paved the way for Hillcrest’s 2,642 rushing yards and 2,220 passing yards.
OL: Michael McCartney, Hillcrest
The 6-3, 235-pound junior left tackle delivered 31 pancake blocks as the Knights racked up 4,862 total yards.
K: Owen Forsman, Lakeland
The Idaho commit made six field goals, including a long of 49 yards, while nailing 26-of-27 PATs. He also had 25 touchbacks.
DEFENSE
DL: Rakeem Johnson, Bishop Kelly
A first-team pick on both sides of the ball, the three-star recruit totaled 43 tackles, six tackles for loss and three fumble recoveries.
DL: Isaac Davis, Hillcrest
Committed to BYU to play basketball, the 6-6, 240-pound senior collected 40 tackles, six tackles for loss and one forced fumble.
DL: Cristian Sanchez, Emmett
The 6-5, 230-pound senior defensive end amassed 55 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, two forced fumbles and an interception.
LB: Devin Rodriguez, Pocatello
In nine games, the 6-2, 225-pound senior racked up 94 total tackles, six tackles for loss and one forced fumble.
LB: Trey Jorgensen, Bishop Kelly
The 5-10, 180-pound senior totaled 90 tackles, 16 tackles for loss, two forced fumbles and one pick while blocking four punts.
LB: Maddox Rawson, Bishop Kelly
Led the Knights in tackles with 132 while adding two fumble recoveries, two pass breakups and a forced fumble.
LB: Preston Stokes, Twin Falls
The 6-1, 200-pound senior recorded 88 tackles, six tackles for loss, two forced fumbles, two interceptions and five pass breakups.
DB: Noah Nienhouse, Bishop Kelly
In 12 games at corner, the senior made 38 tackles with four interceptions, six pass breakups and one forced fumble.
DB: Dalton Carter, Twin Falls
The 6-0, 165-pound sophomore amassed 74 tackles, nine tackles for loss, six interceptions, nine pass breakups and one forced fumble.
DB: Carson Christensen, Pocatello
The 5-11, 185-pound senior strong safety contributed 79 tackles, two tackles for loss and two interceptions.
DB: Braxton Battleson, Hillcrest
The 4A High Country Defensive Player of the Year recorded 31 tackles, three interceptions and three pass breakups.
P: Griffin Brady, Bishop Kelly
The 6-2, 210-pound junior averaged 42.3 yards per punt, including a long of 65 yards, with three downed inside the 20.
