4A All-Idaho football team: The best of the best from Idaho’s deepest classification

4A ALL-IDAHO PLAYER OF THE YEAR
Kenyon Sadiq, Skyline
The Oregon commit put up even more absurd numbers this fall to repeat as player of the year. The 6-4, 225-pound senior receiver hauled in 62 catches for 1,303 yards and 18 TDs. He ran for 233 yards and four TDs. He also racked up 39 pancake blocks, averaged 41.8 yards per punt, and he had 32 tackles, three INTs, two sacks and two forced fumbles in limited defensive snaps.
“He truly was impossible to defend,” Columbia coach Charlie Dotson said.
COACH OF THE YEAR
Scott Berger, Skyline
He guided the Grizzlies to their third straight title and their fifth in the past seven seasons.
FIRST TEAM
OFFENSE
QB: Lachlan Haacke, Skyline
The signal caller for the Grizzlies’ past two title teams, the senior threw for 2,393 yards with 31 TDs and just six INTs.
RB: Jafeth Bendele, Minico
The Spartans saddled up their 5-7, 165-pound workhorse, and the senior led 4A in carries (233) and yards (1,619) with 24 TDs.
RB: Tyson Fox, Vallivue
The 4A SIC’s Player of the Year, the 6-foot, 190-pound senior ran for 1,524 yards and 18 TDs, averaging 10.8 yards per carry.
WR: Gatlin Bair, Burley
A host of Power 5 schools have offered the four-star recruit and 6-3, 190-pound junior, who posted 73 catches for 1,073 yards and 18 TDs.
WR: JaVonte King, Blackfoot
Uncoverable on jump balls, the Montana State commit repeats on the first team with 901 receiving yards and 17 TDs.
TE: JT Garza, Minico
The Spartans moved the 6-4, 170-pound senior all over the field. He rewarded them with 1,178 yards and 11 TDs on 117 touches.
OL: Drew Martin, Bishop Kelly
The 6-3, 235-pound senior served as a two-year starter and leader of a dominant line that paved the way for 43.6 points per game.
OL: Carson Laybourne, Sandpoint
A repeat first-team selection, the 6-4, 310-pound senior helped clear the way for 252 rushing yards per game and played nose guard in key moments.
OL: Wylan Dorrel, Sandpoint
The Bulldogs’ 6-5, 280-pound left tackle moved up from the second team to first-team honors this fall.
OL: Bryen Bosworth, Vallivue
Vallivue ran for a 4A-leading 346 yards per game thanks in large part to the 5-10, 270-pound junior at right guard.
OL: Brendan Rasmussen, Idaho Falls
Standing at 6-4, 280 pounds, the senior averaged five pancake blocks per game, using his strength and mobility to blow open holes.
K: Owen Forsman, Lakeland
The junior converted on 6-of-7 field goals, sinking a long of 44 yards while sending 90% of his kickoffs for touchbacks.
DEFENSE
DL: Arik Blonquist, Skyline
The 6-3, 230-pound senior with a nonstop motor anchored the state champs’ defense with 12.5 tackles per game and eight sacks.
DL: Jack Marshall, Bishop Kelly
The Knights fielded 4A’s toughest defense thanks in part to the 6-1, 220-pound senior with 75 tackles and seven sacks.
DL: Chris Torres, Minico
The 6-1, 220-pound senior wrecked plenty of offensive game plans, finishing with 43 tackles, three TFLs and three sacks.
LB: Brevin Trenkle, Minico
A big-bodied (6-2, 215) senior who delivered big hits, his nose for the ball led to 109 tackles and 8.5 tackles for loss.
LB: Jack Dennis, Bishop Kelly
Elected as the Knights’ captain, the 6-1, 200-pound senior moves up from the second team with 82 tackles and two INTs.
LB: Jorge Cortez, Skyline
The converted defensive back moved into the box to provide more athleticism, and the 5-8, 175-pound senior delivered 113 tackles.
LB: Wes Benefield, Sandpoint
Playing through an injured shoulder, the 6-1, 220-pound senior made the first team again with 103 tackles and three INTs.
DB: Ian Galbreaith, Skyline
The senior and two-year captain racked up 112 tackles, 12 pass breakups and five INTs to move up from the second team.
DB: Deegan Hale, Blackfoot
A 1,055-yard receiver, the 6-3, 180-pound senior also nabbed six interceptions, giving the safety 11 in his career.
DB: Cole Miller, Bishop Kelly
Boise State has extended a preferred walk-on offer to the 6-1, 185-pound senior with 50.5 tackles and two picks.
DB: Stockton Chandler, Minico
A shutdown corner who could take away a side of the field, the 6-foot senior tallied six INTs, 13 pass breakups and 55.5 tackles.
P: Wyatt Solosabal, Twin Falls
The junior averaged 39 yards per kick as a rugby punter, and defenses feared his ability to run or throw for a first down.
