Prep football recap: Emmett opens 4A SIC title defense. Mtn View dominates. Vallivue takes to air

Two-time defending league champ Emmett opened its 4A SIC schedule with a 34-24 win at home over Skyview.

Emmett (3-1, 1-0 4A SIC) quarter Dakota Perry threw for three touchdowns, including a pair of scores to Stevie Howe. Ry Fullerton caught and ran for a score, and he finished with 132 rushing yards, according to IdahoSports.com.

And Emmett defensive back Isaac Brennan opened the scoring with a 35-yard fumble recovery in the first half.

Skyview (0-5, 0-2) cut the lead to three points at halftime with Tyler Kinsman’s 35-yard field goal. But the Hawks never got any closer.

Max Cutforth finished 19-for-29 for 128 yards and two TDs to lead Skyview.

MOUNTAIN VIEW 37, BORAH 7

The Lions’ defense could not find an answer for running back Justin McGee, who ran for 103 yards and three TDs for the Mavericks (2-2, 2-0 5A SIC River).

Mountain View quarterback Dawson Wahl threw for 242 yards and two TDs to receiver Collin Rogers. The Mavericks forced four turnovers, including second-half interceptions by Wyatt Farnsworth and Brayden Edwards to cement the Lions’ third straight loss.

Borah (2-3, 0-3) quarterback Korbin McCarney went 25-for-37 for 219 yards with three interceptions, and Trace Freeman had 12 catches for 113 yards.

MERIDIAN 56, TIMBERLINE 6

An extended lightning delay couldn’t slow the No. 3-ranked Warriors, who forced seven turnovers to build a 56-6 lead after three quarters and invoke the running-clock mercy rule for the second straight week.

Meridian (4-0, 2-0 5A SIC River) quarterback Zeke Martinez finished 9-for-15 for 226 yards and three TDs. Corban Freese stood as his top target, hauling in three passes for 144 yards and two early TDs.

Cole Jones ran for 72 yards and a score, and Marco Del Rio added 66 rushing yards and two TDs as the Warriors ran for 213 yards while averaging 7.6 yards per carry.

Dane Slavin ran for 67 yards and a first-quarter touchdown for Timberline (0-4, 0-1).

VALLIVUE 38, COLUMBIA 6

Vallivue quarterback Isaac Moore led the Falcons (2-2) to a fourth-consecutive game with 30-plus points, finishing 10-for-14 for 243 yards and four touchdowns.

Running back Tyson Fox was lethal on the ground and in the air, rushing for 86 yards on 10 carries and leading all receivers with 115 receiving yards and a score. And the defense held Columbia quarterback Matt Davis to 1-for-6 passing for 19 yards and an interception.

Ikaika Ho led the Wildcats (1-3) with 30 carries for 120 yards and a TD.

SANDPOINT 28, HOMEDALE 21

The Trojans (3-1) rallied for 14 points in the fourth quarter before running out of time in Northern Idaho.

Jaxon Dines went 26-for-42 for 337 yards and two fourth-quarter TDs, both to Rylan Binford. He also ran for 102 yards and a touchdown as 3A’s No. 1-ranked team fell to the defending 4A state runner-up.

Sandpoint (1-2) opened a 14-0 lead in the first quarter and never trailed.

WEISER 49, COLE VALLEY CHRISTIAN 0

The Wolverines forced four turnovers and only gave up 132 total yards to post a shutout.

Michael Youngberg ran for a pair of first-quarter touchdowns for Weiser (4-0), and Maddox Stevens led the team with 43 rushing yards and a score. Quarterback Andrew Enders finished 7-for-8 for 176 yards as Weiser spread the ball around.

FRUITLAND 28, NAMPA CHRISTIAN 12

The Grizzlies (1-3) scored all 28 points in the first half to put away the Trojans (1-3).

Dual-threat quarterback Luke Barinaga led the way with 125 passing yards and two TDs. He also ran for a game-high 96 yards on 22 carries.

Nampa Christian’s Aiden Thompson went 20-for-39 for 173 yards and two scores in the loss.

NOTUS 61, SALMON RIVER 14

Eli Hill ran for 71 yards and a touchdown, had a 25-yard TD, added a pick-six interception and finished with eight tackles to lead the Pirates (3-1).

Notus QB Benny Guevara finished 8-for-12 for 203 yards and three TDs. Stats for Salmon River (1-3) were not reported.
