Rocky Mountain’s vaunted defense came up with four interceptions Friday night against Madison, and Colby Jackson threw for 205 yards and three touchdowns to pace the undefeated Grizzlies to a 28-7 win in the 5A quarterfinals.

Nick Romano carried 23 times for 106 yards to provide the offense with balance, and all three of Jackson’s TDs came in the first half to give Rocky Mountain (10-0) a 21-0 halftime lead.

Brayden Rundell had two of the four interceptions, with Braydan Cureton and Jaxson Pabst recording the others.

Jordan Erickson, Justin Jones and Brayden Hamilton all had TD catches, and Erickson also had a 12-yard touchdown run for the Grizzlies. Jones had three catches for 63 yards and Hamilton had five for 62.

Jordan Porter was 20-for-32 passing for 237 yards for Madison, but he threw three picks to just one TD. Easton Cordero tossed the other interception.

Rocky Mountain will host Coeur d’Alene (9-0) in next week’s semifinals in a battle of unbeatens.

Mountain View 57, Post Falls 0

Mountain View had no trouble in its 5A playoff opener, rolling to a dominant win over Post Falls (5-5).

The Mavericks (8-2) will travel to Pocatello’s Highland (9-1) in the semifinals next week.

Sophomore receiver Kaden Chan scored three of Mountain View’s first four touchdowns as the Mavericks raced out to a 36-0 halftime lead. Chan opened the scoring with a 93-yard punt return for a touchdown and also caught a 66-yard TD pass from Noah Bryant.

Mountain View held Post Falls to 98 total yards, including just 13 on the ground.

Coeur d’Alene 37, Borah 34

Coeur d’Alene quarterback Kale Edwards scored on a 4-yard run with 36 seconds left to squash Borah’s upset bid.

After back-to-back touchdowns from Austin Bolt, the Lions held a 34-24 lead with 7:08 to play in the fourth quarter and appeared headed to its first semifinal appearance since 1995.

But second-ranked Coeur d’Alene (9-0) mustered two TD drives in about 3 minutes to remain unbeaten and advance to the 5A semifinals against Rocky Mountain (10-0).

On the winning drive, Coeur d’Alene was facing third-and-19 from its own 36 when an Edwards deep ball down the middle bounced off receiver Garrett Hagel and into the hands of teammate Carter Friesz, who caught the ball at the Borah 12. Three plays later, Edwards scored the winning TD.

The Lions, who were coming off their first playoff win since 1995, got two touchdowns apiece from Bolt and senior Ellis Magnuson. Logan Miller added a 50-yard punt return at the end of the third quarter. Bolt finished with a team-high 189 yards on the ground and 154 receiving yards on nine receptions.

Playing with a broken wrist, senior quarterback Jake Standlee finished 14-of-26 for 279 yards, a touchdown and four interceptions.

Borah’s Austin Bolt runs the ball as Coeur d’Alene defenders try to chase him down Friday night in the 5A state quarterfinals in Coeur d’Alene. The Vikings won 37-34.

Highland 41, Eagle 14

After a scoreless first quarter, Highland scored three unanswered touchdowns in the second quarter to take control in a 5A playoff victory over Eagle.

Easton Durham scored three rushing touchdowns for the Rams (9-1), and quarterback Kobe Tracy completed 18-of-23 passes for 208 yards and three total TDs.

Both of Eagle’s touchdowns came in the third quarter as quarterback Ben Ford scored on a 1-yard run and Dalton Mashore went 100 yards on a kick return.

Eagle finished the season 7-4.

Bishop Kelly 35, Skyline 21

The Knights (9-1) scored three straight third-quarter touchdowns to break away from a 14-14 tie and get revenge on Skyline, the team that ended Bishop Kelly’s season the past two years.

Bishop Kelly forced three turnovers while limiting the two-time defending state champs to 171 yards of offense and eight first downs.

Ian Arellano rushed for 94 yards and a pair of TDs for the Knights, including a 30-yard score in the second quarter.

Bishop Kelly will host 4A SIC rival Vallivue at 7 p.m. Friday in next week’s semifinals.

Vallivue 62, Idaho Falls 26

Running back Carson Child and quarterback Lan Larison combined for 391 yards rushing and six touchdowns as Vallivue cruised into the 4A semifinals for the first time since 2000.

Child had 212 yards on 14 carries and Larison 179 yards on 13 carries, and both scored three TDs. They paced an offense that had 473 yards on the ground and darted to a 28-0 lead midway through the first quarter.

Child had TD runs of 70 and 68 yards.

The Falcons (8-3) travel to Bishop Kelly next week in the semifinals.

Hillcrest 21, Middleton 17

Hillcrest quarterback Kyle Austin scored the go-ahead touchdown on a 16-yard run with 5:49 left in the fourth quarter to lift the top-ranked Knights in the 4A semifinals for the first time since 2011.

Austin finished with 246 yards and two TDs on the ground, and Oakley Hussey ran for 181 yards as Hillcrest (10-1) ran for 465 yards.

Hillcrest hosts Nampa (9-2) next Friday in Idaho Falls.

Dallas Hagler had a hand in both of Middleton’s touchdowns, connecting with Jace Rogers on a 5-yard pass in the second quarter and a 63-yard bomb to Carson Smith in the third. No. 4 Middleton finishes the season 8-3.

Homedale 41, Gooding 21

The Trojans (10-0) advanced to the 3A semifinals by scoring four first-half touchdowns and riding the legs of running back Mason Kincheloe, who carried 36 times for 239 yards and two touchdowns, and also caught a 20-yard TD pass.

Carson Brown had two of the Homedale defense’s three interceptions.

Kimberly 37, Fruitland 35

McKade Huft ran in a 1-yard touchdown as time expired, lifting Kimberly to a victory over two-time defending champion Fruitland (6-4) in the 3A state quarterfinals.

Kimberly (10-1) faces Sugar-Salem (8-1) in the semifinals.

Grangeville 40, Cole Valley Christian 7

Cole Valley Christian (7-3) scored the first touchdown of the game but never found the end zone again in a 2A state quarterfinal loss to unbeaten Grangeville.

The Bulldogs (10-0) draw North Fremont (10-0) in next week’s semifinals.

Wilder 44, Lapwai 36

Lapwai drove to the Wilder 9-yard line with 1 second left. But Wilder (9-1) made one last defensive stand Thursday to hold on for the win and advance to the semifinals, where it faces the winner of Saturday’s Valley vs. Clearwater Valley game.

Oakley 50, Idaho City 16

Oakley eliminated Western Idaho Conference champion Idaho City (7-2) with a dominant win on the Wildcats’ home field. The Hornets (8-2) play Prairie (9-1) in the 1A Division I semifinals. No details were reported.

Kendrick 64, Garden Valley 32

Garden Valley’s season came to an end at the hands of unbeaten Kendrick (9-0), which takes on Carey (10-0) in next week’s 1A Division II semifinals. No details were reported.
