Skyview senior Tyler Crowe turned in a night for the record books.

The dual running back/linebacker racked up 606 all-purpose yards and seven total touchdowns Friday as the Hawks beat Meridian 70-50 to clinch the program’s first berth in the 5A state playoffs.

Skyview (5-4) hits the road in the first round to face Post Falls (4-4) at 8 p.m. MT Oct. 26. Meridian (3-6) also nabbed a playoff spot despite the loss. It opens on the road at 7 p.m. Oct. 26 at Madison (6-3) .

Crowe ran for 457 yards and six touchdowns on 37 carries. He caught five passes for 112 yards and another TD. He returned an onside kick 37 yards, nearly scoring on it too. And he had five tackles and an interception on defense.

“Tyler just breaks things and makes things happen,” Skyview coach David Young said. “He’s dragging guys, he’s pushing guys, he’s making guys miss.

“… He was everything tonight — big runs, small runs, physical runs, an interception, catching the ball out of the backfield. Wow, he was impressive.”

Crowe also had a seven-touchdown game against Eagle earlier this season.

Skyview finished the night with 865 yards of offense, including 590 on the ground. Wyatt Storer threw for 267 yards and four touchdowns, three of them to Wade Carpenter (nine catches, 128 yards).

Skyview joined the 5A classification this fall after years of success in 4A. The Hawks heard plenty of doubters proclaim they’d struggle in Idaho’s largest classification. But Young said the team blocked that out. Nine weeks later, they are back in the playoffs.

“Our expectations from Day 1 were we were going to 5A to compete and make the playoffs,” Young said. “We were not going to be a pushover or lay down for anybody.”

Meridian nearly kept pace with 552 yards for a combined total of 1,417 yards in the game. Quarterback Braden Honn completed 9-of-22 passes for 275 yards and two TDs. He also ran for 60 yards and two TDs, but he threw four interceptions.

Josiah Seward ran for 63 yards and two TDs, and Javen Woodall finished with 127 rushing yards and one TD.

Meridian’s Javen Woodall breaks through the Skyview defense Friday in Nampa. Despite the loss, the Warriors (3-6) are headed to the playoffs and face Madison (6-3) on the road in the first round.

Jaymon Barrus rushed for 106 yards and Joey Elwell scored three touchdowns on just four carries for Mountain View (7-2, 7-2), which fell behind 7-0 and led only 21-12 in the second quarter before taking over.

Quarterback Lan Larison rushed for 202 yards and three touchdowns, and also threw for a pair of TDs, as Vallivue (6-3, 5-3) snapped a seven-year playoff drought with a win.

The Falcons finished as the fourth-place team in the 4A SIC, earning them a road trip to Moscow (3-5) in the first round.

Larison had touchdown runs of 57 and 44 yards, and he also hit Jayden Moran on a 34-yard TD pass. Moran finished with 80 yards of total offense and three TDs, and Carson Child rushed for 179 yards on just seven carries for the Falcons.

Nampa (7-2, 6-2) had already clinched a playoff berth and will be the No. 2 seed from the 4A SIC. It hosts Mountain Home (4-5) in the first round.

The Bulldogs were outgained by only 491-437 but had three turnovers. Brian Carillo rushed for 121 yards and a TD, and Donovan Estrada had six catches for 156 yards and two scores to lead the offense.

Columbia 36, Middleton 31

Columbia mounted a late rally to upset second-ranked Middleton and earn the second playoff berth in program history.

Columbia (5-4, 5-3 4A SIC) will face Century (7-2) at 8:15 p.m. Friday at Pocatello’s Holt Arena.

The Wildcats jumped out to a 21-0 lead to start the game, then found themselves trailing 31-24 entering the fourth quarter. But Allamar Alexander ran in a 39-yard TD run, his fourth of the game, and Jeremiah Brent caught a 14-yard touchdown pass for the game-winner.

Alexander finished with 288 yards on 42 carries, and Collett completed 15-of-22 passes for 134 yards.

Middleton (7-2, 6-2) fell to third in the 4A SIC with the loss and opens the playoffs at home against Blackfoot (4-5).

Caldwell 21, Mountain Home 13

The Cougars (1-8, 0-8 4A SIC) ended the season on a high note with a nonconference win.

Andres Begne completed 20-of-34 passes for 205 yards and two TDs, finding Ryder Hernandez (six catches, 78 yards) and Ryan Barton (five catches, 35 yards) in the end zone.

Caldwell’s defense held the high-flying Tigers to 241 yards of offense, 161 below their season average.

Kuna 45, Emmett 20

The Kavemen (5-4, 4-4 4A SIC) upheld their end of the bargain to get a playoff spot. But Columbia’s upset of Middleton eliminated Kuna from the postseason.

No details were reported.

Homedale 40, Weiser 17

Top-ranked Homedale (9-0, 4-0 3A SRV) finished the regular season unbeaten and clinched a league title with a romp over the Wolverines (5-3, 2-2), who also will be in the playoffs.

Mason Kincheloe rushed 30 times for 199 yards and three TDs to lead the Trojans, who had 442 total yards to just 225 for Weiser.

Homedale gets a bye through the first round, while Weiser faces South Fremont (5-3) at 6 p.m. Thursday at Holt Arena.

Sugar-Salem 79, Parma 3

The Diggers steamrolled Parma (1-8) in a nonconference game. Parma’s season is over as it did not make the playoffs.

McCall-Donnelly 62, Marsing 14

Playoff-bound McCall (6-2, 4-1 2A WIC) got 352 yards of rushing offense to crush Marsing. Peter Knudson led the way with 96 yards and two TDs on just five carries, while Nicholas Hardy ran for 75 yards and a score.

Dwight Sevy threw for 197 yards on 18-for-42 passing for the Huskies (1-7, 0-5) and was intercepted three times.

McCall opens the 2A playoffs at home against league rival Melba.

Quarterback Roman Conder added 257 passing yards and four total touchdowns, including two to receiver Dylan Krogh. Krogh tallied nine receptions for 180 yards.

Cole Valley travels to Orofino (3-5) at 8 p.m. MT Oct. 26 to open the playoffs.

Horseshoe Bend 52, Council 6

Horseshoe Bend improved to 4-4 overall and earned its first conference win of the season with a rout of winless Council.

Freshman quarterback Decker Larson led the Mustangs’ offensive attack with 154 rushing yards and two touchdowns, plus 100 passing yards and another score. On defense, Quade Renfro added 10 tackles and two interceptions, including one he returned for a TD.

Rocky Mountain 27, Borah 21

It wasn’t pretty, but No. 1-ranked Rocky Mountain (9-0) finished an undefeated regular season with a win at home Thursday over upset-minded Borah.

The Lions (5-4) got the ball twice late in the fourth quarter looking for the go-ahead score. The Grizzlies then turned to their defense to bail them out as Jaxson Pabst picked off a pass in the end zone, and Ryan Shields sealed the win with one more interception.

Kaimana Nawahine also had an interception as Rocky Mountain’s defense surrendered 21 points but forced three turnovers.

Junior quarterback Colby Jackson completed 15-of-25 passes for 203 yards and three TDs. Nick Romano ran for 133 yards and a touchdown, and he caught two passes for 48 yards and another score.

Borah’s Austin Bolt turned seven catches into 140 yards and touchdown that cut the deficit to six points with 10:31 left in the fourth quarter. Ellis Magnuson finished 16-of-27 for 221 yards with a touchdown and three interceptions filling in for injured quarterback Jake Standlee.

Rocky Mountain had already clinched the 5A Southern Idaho Conference title entering Thursday. With it, the Grizzlies have a first-round bye.

Borah will face Capital in the first round of the playoffs.

Capital 55, Boise 6

Capital (6-3) guaranteed itself a first-round playoff game at home and triggered the mercy rule Thursday in its 29th straight win over Boise.

Senior quarterback Ryan Hibbs finished 12-of-14 for 178 yards and four touchdowns, and he ran for 44 yards and another score. Hibbs even found offensive lineman Jack Vering, who verbally committed to Montana State this week, for an 8-yard TD in the first quarter.

Capital finishes as the 5A SIC’s fourth seed and will open the playoffs against Borah.

Bishop Kelly 52, Ridgevue 14

The Knights (7-1, 7-1 4A SIC) ran for 308 yards to trigger the running-clock mercy rule and wrap up the regular season Thursday with a win.

With Middleton’s loss to Columbia on Friday, Bishop Kelly will be the 4A SIC’s No. 1 seed and host Preston (4-5) next week.

Ian Arellano ran for 137 yards and two TDs on 12 carries, and he returned a punt 70 yards for a touchdown. BK’s defense held the Warhawks to 163 yards and two Austin Forrest touchdown catches.
