No. 1 Eagle football cruises to 5-0; Borah, Meridian nab key wins

EAGLE 41, KUNA 6

Devan Bridgewater completed 10-of-12 passes for 246 yards and four TDs as the No. 1-ranked Mustangs took advantage of five turnovers and cruised to the win in their 5A SIC Pod B opener.

Cole Christensen caught six passes for 100 yards and a score, and Kaden Snooks hauled in two TD passes.

CAPITAL 51, COLUMBIA 0

Capital forced five turnovers, and Alex Lindsey and Carter Johnson each returned interceptions for touchdowns as the Eagles scored 34 points in the first quarter and 51 in the first half to invoke the mercy rule.

Quarterback Drew Korf completed 11-of-13 passes for 145 yards and two TDs, both to Jessie Healy. Micah Hagler added 60 yards and two TDs on the ground for Capital.

BORAH 10, CENTENNIAL 6

The Lions’ defense turned in its third straight dominant performance, forcing five turnovers and racking up eight sacks — three each from Jaden Cavener and Trevor Detwiler.

Kegan Lester led Borah on the ground, running for 155 yards, and Chanz Green caught a 15-yard TD pass from Jake Standlee for the Lions’ only touchdown.

MERIDIAN 22, NAMPA 6

Meridian’s defense held Nampa to 151 total yards and a single touchdown.

Andrew Weimer ran for 93 yards and two TDs for the Warriors, and Luke Schraer added 99 rushing yards.

MTN. VIEW 56, BOISE 6

Quarterback Tucker Rovig threw a pair of TDs to Keenan Pattwell and also ran for a score to lead the Mavericks to a blowout win.

Mountain View’s Cole Franklin added two touchdown runs.

SKYVIEW 51, CALDWELL 8

Tyler Crowe ran for a 141 yards and three TDs, and Wyatt Storer completed 17-of-30 passes for 307 yards and two TDs as Skyview rolled to a conference road win.

Tevin Sio led Caldwell with 71 rushing yards, but the Cougars could only muster 162 yards of offense in the loss.

MIDDLETON 38, RIDGEVUE 0

The Vikings’ defense held Ridgevue to 130 total yards for its second straight shutout.

Middleton’s Landon Ebber ran for 101 yards and two TDs, and Jaden Coombs added 110 yards and a TD on the ground.

VALLIVUE 42, MTN. HOME 0

The Falcons’ defense held Mountain Home to five first downs and 56 yards of offense for the shutout.

Jerred Monnier led the Vallivue attack, running for 207 yards and two TDs. Lan Larison completed 6-of-12 passes for 138 yards and two TDs.

WEISER 22, HOMEDALE 20

Weiser took advantage of three Homedale turnovers and held off a fourth-quarter rally to upset the 3A SRV preseason favorite in the conference opener for both teams.

Weiser’s Brody VonBrethorst completed 3-of-6 passes for 64 yards and two TDs. All completions went to Bridger Bumgarner.

FRUITLAND 69, PAYETTE 6

Canaan Bourcy and Ethan Villalobos each ran for a pair of scores as the Grizzlies racked up 473 yards of offense, 355 on the ground, and raced out to a 42-0 halftime lead.

NEW PLYMOUTH 35, NAMPA CHRISTIAN 28

Pilgrims QB Riley Harris found Cody Fernley for a 25-yard touchdown pass on a fade route with three seconds left to avoid overtime and earn New Plymouth the win in a battle of 2A WIC favorites.

MELBA 48, MARSING 0

The Mustangs took advantage of four turnovers and held Marsing to 101 yards of offense.

Melba freshman Scott Martinez ran for 82 yards and two TDs to stretch the Huskies’ losing streak to 20 games.

NORTH GEM 36, HORSESHOE BEND 20

Horseshoe Bend fell for the first time this season on the road in Bancroft.

CASCADE 40, RIMROCK 14

Cascade evened its record at 2-2 with a win at home.

LAPWAI 52, SALMON RIVER 20

The Wildcats snapped Salmon River’s 13-game winning streak.

COUNCIL 44, IDAHO CITY 6

The Lumberjacks earned their first win of the season on the road.

TRI-VALLEY 36, WILDER 14

The Titans evened their record at 2-2 before beginning their league schedule next week.
