Centennial, Borah boys basketball teams punch tickets to state

CENTENNIAL 52, CAPITAL 45

Talon Pinckney scored 14 points to lead three Patriots in double figures, and Centennial clinched its first berth to the state tournament since 2012 with a victory over Capital on Saturday in the 5A District Three Tournament semifinals.

Taylor Wallick recorded 12 points, and Conner Desaulnier chipped in 10 points and six rebounds for Centennial (20-3), which jumped on an 18-8 lead in the first quarter.

Justin Saunders scored a game-high 16 points to lead Capital (12-11).

Centennial will face Borah in the district championship game at 7 p.m. Friday at Borah High.

BORAH 58, ROCKY MOUNTAIN 48

DeAndre Jones scored 19 points and dished out seven assists as the Lions took down defending district champion Rocky Mountain.

Borah (20-2) booked its eighth straight trip to state and 13th in the past 14 years.

Hunter Ranstrom tallied 10 points to lead Rocky Mountain (16-6), which will face Timberline (12-12) in a loser-out game at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Timberline High.
