3A All-Idaho boys basketball team: Prolific scorers, returning talent top team
Note: Coaches in each classification select the All-Idaho teams. The Idaho Statesman hosts the voting process and publishes the results.
PLAYER OF THE YEAR: JJ YEAROUT, ST. MARIES
The pick: A 1,000-point career scorer, the 6-2 senior guard helped the Lumberjacks hoist the state championship trophy. He posted 19.3 points, 8.1 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 3.2 steals per game.
Coach’s comment: “He can take over a game on both sides of the floor, whether with a timely steal and dunk, or a quick 3 in transition,” St. Maries coach Bryan Chase said.
What others are saying: “JJ was the most impactful player on both ends of the floor for the best team in the state,” Kellogg coach Mike Martin said. “Nobody turned defense into offense quicker than he did. Most nights, he was given the toughest defensive assignment while also carrying the Lumberjacks offensively.”
What’s next: Yearout has several college tryouts but is undecided.
JONATHAN SWAINSTON, WENDELL
The 2025 All-Idaho Player of the Year helped the Trojans finish second at the state tournament, averaging 17.0 points, 4.6 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 1.8 steals per game. The 5-10 senior point guard has several offers to play at the next level.
NATHAN COMPAS, PARMA
The classification’s leading scorer at 23.8 points per game, the 6-3 senior point guard helped the Panthers return to state for the first time since 2019, also adding 6.2 rebounds, 3.7 steals and 3.5 assists per game. He’s the reigning 3A WIC Player of the Year.
KODY LANDON, RIRIE
A 1,000-point career scorer, the 6-5 senior played every position for the Bulldogs, who finished third at state. Landon averaged 17.7 points, 5.1 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game while shooting 43% from the floor and guarding the opposing team’s best player.
JORDON SWAINSTON, WENDELL
An All-Idaho first-team pick for the second year in a row, the 5-8 senior point guard helped the Trojans finish second at state, contributing 16.4 points, 3.7 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.4 steals per game. He also shot 31% from 3-point range.
COACH OF THE YEAR: BRYAN CHASE, ST. MARIES
He led the Lumberjacks to a state championship, their first since 2021, and a 21-3 overall record.
