5A All-Idaho boys basketball team: The top players from a competitive class
Note: Coaches in each classification select the All-Idaho teams. The Idaho Statesman hosts the voting process and publishes the results.
PLAYER OF THE YEAR: ROYCE FISHER, LEWISTON
The pick: The classification’s leading scorer at 24.0 points per game led the Bengals to a state runner-up finish. The 6-4 senior guard also added 5.6 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.0 steals per game.
Coach’s comment: “Fish led us in nearly every statistical category, and went on a scoring run to end the season (with) 25-plus in every district and state game, including several 30-point outings,” Lewiston coach Brooks Malm said.
What others are saying: “Impossible matchup. Too big to put a guard on him, too quick to put a big on him,” Twin Falls coach Mac Stannard said. “You can’t speed him up. He has an effortless way about his game to get to his spots and knock down shots.”
What’s next: Fisher has signed with Lewis-Clark State College.
