1A All-Idaho girls basketball team | 2024-2025
Note: Coaches in each classification select the All-Idaho teams. The Idaho Statesman hosts the voting process and publishes the results.
PLAYER OF THE YEAR: CALYN PERMANN, ROCKLAND
The pick: The pass-first senior point guard didn’t post gaudy scoring numbers, instead making sure everyone else got their shots while doing all the dirty work on defense. She led 1A with 5.2 assists per game for the state champions, adding 9.7 points, 5.8 rebounds and 3.7 steals a night.
Coach’s comment: “Presses and defensive traps against her were no issue,” Rockland coach Jordan Black said. “She stayed calm and in control. She posed a continual threat on offense.”
What others are saying: “Calyn played amazing on both ends of the court,” Carey coach Merrilee Sears said. “Her defensive pressure and her ability to score is what set Rockland apart from other teams at state.”
What’s next: She will attend BYU next year before serving a church mission.
CHLOE GRIESER, GENESEE
The double-double machine carried the Bulldogs to a second-place finish at state. The 5-7 junior point guard led 1A with 20.8 points per game, averaging 11.6 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 3.3 steals to add all-state honors to her conference player of the year award.
RILEY WALTERS, SALMON RIVER
The 5-10 guard’s scoring (20.5 ppg) often topped the scouting report. But the junior was also a terror on defense, leading 1A with 6.0 steals per game. She added 7.7 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.4 blocks per game to affect the game from every spot on the floor.
ANDIE SIMPSON, CAREY
As the Panthers’ top offensive and defensive player, the 5-3 sophomore point guard rarely left the floor. Her leadership, determination and stamina led Carey to a third-place trophy at state while averaging 15.7 points, 7.0 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 2.3 steals.
ALEX PERMANN, ROCKLAND
The player of the year’s cousin led the state champs in scoring (10.1 ppg). Her motor and rebounding (6.7) made her a monster in the paint on both ends of the floor. And she owned a dangerous 3-point shot to punish any teams that packed the paint.
COACH OF THE YEAR: JORDAN BLACK, ROCKLAND
Her full-court press held opponents to an all-class low 27 ppg to lead the Bulldogs to a state title.
