Owyhee girls basketball clinches 5A state tournament berth. Watch the highlights

The Owyhee girls basketball jumped out to an 8-1 lead early and cruised from there, running away with a 56-40 victory over Eagle on Tuesday to clinch a spot at next week’s 5A state tournament.

Josie Davis led Owyhee (19-4) with 11 points, 10 rebounds and three steals. Emma Atchley scored 12 points, and Riley Beck added 11 for the second-year program. The Storm never trailed Tuesday night at Timberline.

Paige Cofer poured in a game-high 18 points and added seven rebounds for Eagle (13-12), which falls into a state play-in game at 4 p.m. Saturday at Grangeville High. The Mustangs will face the yet-to-be-determined second-place team from North Idaho.
