1A Division II All-Idaho girls basketball team | 2022
Note: The All-Idaho teams are chosen by each classification’s coaches. The Idaho Statesman hosts the voting process and publishes the results.
PLAYER OF THE YEAR: KIERSLEY BOYER, ROCKLAND
Why she is player of the year: Opponents had years to come up for a solution to the 5-11 senior forward. No one found one. She makes the All-Idaho team for the third time after leading the Bulldogs to their second title in three years with 13.6 points, 12.4 rebounds, 3.4 steals and 3.1 blocks per game.
Coach’s comment: “(She’s a) good shooter, rebounder and ball handler (with a) good understanding of the game. (She was) a team leader on and off the floor,” Rockland coach Vern Nelson said.
What others are saying: “Probably the best in and out player in Idaho. She is a threat from every position on the floor,” Leadore coach Janet Proulx said.
What’s next: She is considering a church mission before becoming a dental assistant.
EMBER FARR, ROCKLAND
The 5-11 senior center teamed with Boyer to give the state champs an unstoppable front court. She owned the offensive glass with her tenacious rebounding, leading to countless easy buckets. She averaged 11.8 points, 10.7 rebounds and 2.2 steals.
SYDNEY NICHOLS, COUNCIL
A pair of reconstructed ankles couldn’t deter the 5-5 senior wing, who was the heart and soul of the Lumberjacks as they reached the state finals for the first time since 1988. She had a hand in everything, averaging 11.3 points, 4.1 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 3.3 steals.
ERIN MORGAN, KENDRICK
The 5-10 senior center represented a rare threat for the Tigers: a big who could punish teams in transition and inside the paint with her unmatched motor. She racked up 14.1 points and 8.3 rebounds to lead Kendrick to the state consolation trophy.
TAYLIE BOYER, ROCKLAND
The 5-8 junior wing provided an outside threat that punished teams when they collapsed too hard on Kiersley Boyer and Farr. She averaged 10.4 points, 3.4 steals and 3.2 steals as what Rockland coach Vern Nelson described as his most improved player.
COACH OF THE YEAR: VERN NELSON, ROCKLAND
He built the state’s most suffocating defense at all levels (23.9 ppg) to win another title.
