Rocky Mountain High graduate Mason Smith moved up to the San Diego Padres’ Double-A affiliate in San Antonio on Monday, replacing an injured outfielder on the Missions’ roster.

Smith, a fourth-round pick in 2013, has hit .135 in 17 games this season with San Diego’s Low-A affiliate in Fort Wayne, Ind. The move allows Smith to bypass a level in High-A Lake Elsinore, Calif.

Smith’s best season as a professional came last year in the Northwest League when he hit .226 in 55 games for the Tri-City Dust Devils.
