State baseball: Fruitland, Homedale to meet for 3A title
3A: FRUITLAND, HOMEDALE ADVANCE
FRUITLAND — The 3A state championship will be an all-District Three affair when Homedale (18-6) takes on Fruitland (21-7) at 4 p.m. at Fruitland High. The Grizzlies have shut out their first two opponents, while the Trojans beat Bonners Ferry 10-2 in five innings in their semifinal.
4A: TOURNAMENT SHORTENED BY RAIN
TWIN FALLS — Bad weather Friday postponed all games. The tournament will switch to a single-elimination format with no consolation games.
2A: NAMPA CHRISTIAN EYES STATE TITLE
OROFINO — The defending state champion Trojans cruised into the state championship with a 12-2, five-inning win over St. Maries. Nampa Christian will try for its second title in a row against Orofino.
1A: WILDER STILL IN THE MIX
CALDWELL — Wilder suffered an 8-4 semifinal loss to Potlatch, but the Wildcats still have a shot at the state title. Wilder (7-11) faces Prairie at 9 a.m. in a loser-out semifinal. Wilder defeated Prairie 6-5 in the first round.
