State softball: Eagle still alive in 5A tournament
5A POSTPONED BY WEATHER
IDAHO FALLS — Defending champ Eagle stunned Mountain View 19-3 in four innings to open play. But bad weather left the Mustangs in a scoreless tie with Coeur d’Alene in the fifth inning. In the other winners bracket game, Rocky Mountain was leading Boise 6-0 in the fourth inning. Both games will resume at 9 a.m. Saturday.
4A TOURNAMENT GETS CUT SHORT
TWIN FALLS — No games were played Friday because of rain. The single-elimination tourney begins Saturday with no consolation games.
3A: HOMEDALE, EMMETT STILL ALIVE
POCATELLO — Homedale beat Bonners Ferry and Kimberly to set up a semifinal against Buhl. Emmett opened with a 6-0 shutout of Snake River, but fell into the losers bracket after a 7-6 loss to Buhl. Emmett plays a loser-out game against Teton at 10 a.m. Saturday.
2A: NEW PLYMOUTH, MELBA IN HUNT
BLACKFOOT — Melba remained unbeaten with wins over Declo and Bear Lake. Defending champ New Plymouth must beat Bear Lake on Saturday to stay alive.
1A: HORSESHOE BEND, NOTUS IN MIX
CALDWELL — Horseshoe Bend takes on the winner of the Notus-Prairie game for a spot in the championship against Genesee.
