Idaho state tennis tournaments: Boise-area athletes sweep 6A championships

Treasure Valley athletes dominated the Idaho 6A tennis state tournaments this weekend, sweeping the team and individual titles.

The Eagle girls ran away with their third straight state championship, finishing with 41 points and 16 points ahead of Boise in second place. But Boise got some payback in the boys standings, capturing its first title since 2017 with 56 points, 13 points ahead of Eagle.

Those two teams were also heavily represented in the individual championships. Eagle’s Sophia Jacobs (16-0) repeated as the girls individual champ, while teammates Tyler Osborne and Colton Symes brought home the boys doubles crown.

Boise’s Duncan Kennedy (22-0) rolled through the boys singles bracket, dropping just eight games all weekend. And Boise’s title-winning mixed doubles pair of Heidi McMillan and Savah Marsh topped teammates Kennedy Dunn and Henry Andrews in the finals to add to the Brave’s point total in both team standings.

Rocky Mountain duo Miri Christensen and Halle Smith completed the Treasure Valley sweep, rolling through the girls doubles bracket while dropping just nine games.

Bishop Kelly’s mixed doubles pair of Luke Perko and Lauren Mallory captured the region’s only title in the 5A classification. But Treasure Valley teams swept the 4A team trophies and captured four of the five individual championships.
