GIRLS SOCCER PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Emerson Shirey, Boise: Scored a set-piece goal in the 6A district semifinals and championship game, lifting the Brave to their third district title in four years.
Maya Atkinson, Timberline: Had a hand in all four goals in a 4-1 victory over Eagle that clinched the Wolves a 6A state tournament berth, scoring twice and assisting two other goals.
Samantha Jones, Mountain View: Scored twice in the 6A district semifinals and added another goal in the championship to lead the Mavericks to state and a second-place district trophy, their best finish since 2008.
Teagan Weigt, Rocky Mountain: Scored the game-winning goal in a 1-0 victory over Owyhee that clinched the Grizzlies a 6A state tournament berth.
Sophie Carr, Eagle: Scored the decisive goal in a 1-0 upset of undefeated and No. 1-ranked Lake City that sent the Mustangs to the 6A state tournament.
Amanda Soto, Vallivue: Netted a pair of goals and set up another in a 6-1 win over Skyview that punched the Falcons’ ticket to the 5A state tournament.
Jayda Keffer, Fruitland: Scored twice in a 3-2 win over McCall-Donnelly to secure the Grizzlies back-to-back 4A District Three Tournament titles.
BOYS SOCCER PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Corbon Gill, Owyhee: During the Storm’s state-qualifying win over Boise, Gill made six saves in goal and stopped a penalty kick during a shootout.
Marcelo Flores, Caldwell: Scored the game-winning goal with 2:37 left in a 1-0 elimination win over Timberline in the 6A District Three Tournament.
Jace Obenchain, Mountain View: Helped the Mavericks advance to their first 6A District Three Tournament championship since 2011 with one goal on a penalty kick and one assist in a 2-0 win over Borah.
Camden Shepherd, Rocky Mountain: Helped the Grizzlies win their third straight district championship, scoring a goal in the semifinals and adding an assist in the title match.
Kevin Rosas, Nampa: The Bulldogs extended their season with a 3-2 win over Columbia, getting a pair of goals from Rosas.
Eli Arndt, McCall-Donnelly: The Vandals picked up a pair of shutouts against Fruitland and Ambrose as Arndt notched a goal in each contest.
Hudson Faull, Boise: The Brave won a state play-in game 2-1 over Coeur d’Alene as Faull contributed one goal and one assist.
