6A All-Idaho baseball team: The state’s best talent from its toughest division

Note: The All-Idaho teams are chosen by each classification’s coaches. The Idaho Statesman hosts the voting process and publishes the results.

6A BASEBALL PLAYER OF THE YEAR

Boomer Collins

Middleton, sr., SS/P

Described as the state champs’ “heartbeat,” the sure-handed shortstop erased base hits and served as a pest at the top of the lineup, hitting .448 and stealing 23 bases. The San Diego Mesa CC commit also was the Vikings’ closer, going 3-0 with a 6A-leading five saves and 0.98 ERA.

Brian Champion

Centennial

Picked to finish eighth in the SIC preseason poll, the Patriots went to regionals and posted their first winning record (19-8) since 2016 under Champion’s leadership.

ALL-STATE FIRST TEAM

Gage Haws

Owyhee, sr., DH

A three-time all-state pick, the Washington commit led 6A in hits (49) and stolen bases (28) while ranking second in batting average (.485).

Ian Lenius

Middleton, sr., P

The lefty and Utah commit with a 94 mph fastball posted a 2.55 ERA and led 6A in wins (8-1) and strikeout rate (11.7 per seven innings).

Cannon Eddie

Highland, jr., C/3B

He’s caught every inning for the Rams the past three years, and he put up 6A’s best on-base (.588) and slugging (.911) percentages this year.

Beau Ramsey

Middleton, sr., P/CF

The 6-6 righty hit .313, threw a perfect game, went 6-3 with a 1.89 ERA, and led the classification with 82 strikeouts in 51 ⅔ innings.

Lincoln Mathis

Rocky Mountain, sr., P/CF

A second-team pick last year, the College of Southern Idaho-bound lefty made the first team after going 5-1 with a 1.46 ERA and 76 strikeouts in 52 ⅔ innings.

Gavin Helms

Coeur d’Alene, jr., 1B/UTIL

The IEL MVP posted 6A’s best batting average (.525) and slugged .825 as the Vikings’ anchor, adding five home runs and 35 RBIs.

Jackson Wendt

Rocky Mountain, sr., 1B

Teams pitched around the Seattle commit all season. He still hit .350 and drove in 21 RBIs to make the first team for a second straight year.

Cannon Haws

Centennial, jr., P/SS

He led the Patriots to their best season in years, going 6-0 with a 1.47 ERA while hitting .337 with 24 RBIs as their cleanup hitter.

Cade Burnham

Mountain View, sr., SS

The leadoff hitter and CSI commit led the Mavs to a third-place trophy at state, hitting .324 with a .486 on-base percentage and 17 steals.

Alex Ramos

Madison, so., SS

The sophomore swung a big stick, hitting .443 with six home runs and 31 RBIs while leading the classification with 45 runs scored.

Caden Werner

Capital, sr., UTIL/P

The Wenatchee Valley CC-bound senior did it all, posting a 3.57 ERA and striking out 69 while hitting .380 and stealing 21 bases.
