5A All-Idaho girls soccer team: The state’s best players from every corner of Idaho

Note: The All-Idaho teams are chosen by each classification’s coaches. The Idaho Statesman hosts the voting process and publishes the results.

PLAYER OF THE YEAR

Lilliana Brinkmeier

Sandpoint, sr., GK

The four-year starter built a reputation as a stonewall throughout a career that ended with 42 victories and 30 shutouts, including a state runner-up trophy and a 1.00 goals-against average this year. Her size, athleticism and wits made sure opponents earned every goal against the Bulldogs.

COACH OF THE YEAR

Mark Wetstein

Pocatello

He led the Thunder (17-3-0) to their first state championship in their first trip to the state finals.

FIRST TEAM

Aryanna Gonzalez

Pocatello, so., F

The 5A classification’s leading scorer (29 goals, six assists) is already a two-time, first-team selection.

Addie McCallister

Middleton, sr., F

The Westminster commit was equally dangerous finishing (19 goals) or creating for others (16 assists).

Elsie Wyatt

Middleton, sr., F

Her determination made her a threat no defender wanted to face en route to 24 goals and 13 assists.

Alina Hernandez

Vallivue, sr., M

The versatile Boise State signee distributed (10 assists) and dominated in one-on-one situations (17 goals).

Brinley Nelson

Hillcrest, so., M

The all-class leader in assists (24) also knew how to finish (18 goals), leading the Knights to state.

Kellie Christensen

Pocatello, sr., M

The repeat first-team selection kept the Thunder connected, adding three goals and nine assists.

Avery Lathen

Lewiston, so., D

The left back wiped out attacks and was a nightmare going forward, finishing with 21 goals and seven assists.

Alivia Marshall

Pocatello, sr., D

The center back and captain anchored a defense that posted 11 shutouts, including three at state.

Cecilia Dignan

Sandpoint, jr., D

The center back isn’t flashy. She just calmly erased scoring threats to repeat as a first-team selection.

Grace Sams

Caldwell, sr., D

The four-year starter and three-year captain ends her career as a first-team selection for a second time.

Megan Stewart

Middleton, so., GK

College scouts are quickly picking up on the 5-11 keeper’s talents after posting a 0.84 goals-against average.
