Idaho’s most decorated high school girls soccer program captured another state championship Saturday.

Bishop Kelly topped Twin Falls 2-0 at Real Life Fields in Post Falls, riding a pair of Gracie Rhodes goals to its 10th state championship since Idaho’s high school sports governing body began sponsoring soccer in 2000.

The next closest teams at any level are the Sandpoint boys and girls, both with eight state titles.

The Knights (17-2-1) wasted little time rushing out to a lead as Rhodes found the back of the net in the seventh minute. She then scored her third goal of the tournament in the 67th minute as Bishop Kelly finally knocked off Twin Falls (16-3-2), which ended the Knights’ title chances each of the past two seasons.

Sophie Schmautz and Madison Hutchinson each had an assist. Ellie Lickley made three saves for the shutout.

The championship adds to many the Knights have one, but it’s their first since 2018 — when none of the current players were on the roster.

VALLIVUE TAKES TROPHY: Freshman Amanda Soto scored the only goal on an assist from sophomore Hailey Upson as the Falcons beat Bonneville 1-0 for the 4A consolation title.

Katie Kaba made four saves for the shutout as Vallivue (13-7-1) captured its second straight state tournament trophy. It was second last year.

FRUITLAND FINISHES SECOND: The fifth-seeded Grizzlies (16-3-1) made it back to the finals for the second straight season. But the defending champs fell 3-0 to Sun Valley Community School on Saturday at Twin Falls’ Sunway Soccer Complex.

Gretel Huss, Mia Hansmeyer and Scarlet Rixon all scored for the Cutthroats (21-1-0) in a rematch of last year’s final.
