Help us choose the best of the best in the latest Idaho Statesman soccer player of the week contest.

Polls close at noon Wednesday. Read about all the candidates and their accomplishments below.

You can vote multiple times. This is meant to be a fun way to show support for athletes, not scientific.

Nominations are submitted by area coaches or taken from stats reported to the Idaho Statesman.

BOYS SOCCER

Jeremiah Moreno, Timberline: Scored twice in the district semifinals to send the Wolves to state, then scored the game-winning goal in a 2-1 win over Borah for the district title.

Axel Gonzalez, Caldwell: Scored the opening goal and then set up the second one as the Cougars continued their unbeaten season with a 2-0 win over Bishop Kelly for the 4A district title.

Justin McGrew, Bishop Kelly: Posted a shutout and stopped all three Vallivue shootout attempts to clinch the Knights a spot in the 4A state tournament. He stopped the fifth and final shot in another shootout vs. Vallivue earlier in the week.

Matthew Gabriele, Eagle: Made 10 saves for the shutout in a 3-0 win vs. Mountain View that sent the Mustangs to the 5A state tournament.

Reese Hyer, Vallivue: Recorded a hat trick in a 5-0 elimination win vs. Ridgevue, and had two assists in a 4-0 elimination win vs. Skyview.

GIRLS SOCCER

Sofia Soto, Vallivue: Scored a golden goal in overtime to send the Falcons to state in a 2-1 win vs. Ridgevue.

Merea Hummer, Eagle: Scored twice in a 3-2 win vs. Centennial that punched the Mustangs’ ticket to state.

Alina Hernandez, Skyview: Found the back of the net twice in the final 5 minutes to force overtime in a district tournament game against Vallivue.

Abbi Roubidoux, Fruitland: Recorded a hat trick in a 3-1 win over McCall-Donnelly for the 3A district title. She scored eight times in two games, leaving her with 97 goals entering state.

Erin DiVittorio, Bishop Kelly: Scored twice to rally the Knights to their 14th straight 4A district title with a 3-1 win vs. Vallivue.

Kunie Hirai, Boise: Netted the game-winning goal in the 89th minute as the Brave topped Rocky Mountain 1-0 for the 5A district title.

Elli Lewis, Timberline: Scored a golden goal in overtime to clinch the Wolves a spot at the 5A state tournament in a 4-3 victory over Owyhee.
