Here’s who you chose for 2021 Treasure Valley athletes of the year

Voting has closed in our Treasure Valley athletes-of-the-year contest.

Here are the winners. And it wasn’t that close, especially in the voting for top boys athlete.

  • Girls Athlete of the Year: Audrah Radford, Nampa
  • Boys Athlete of the Year: Brett Spencer, Weiser

These were the girls candidates:

Eden Bower, Skyview: Coaches’ 5A All-Idaho Volleyball Player of the Year.

Allie Bruce, Boise: Won the 5A individual cross-country title with a time of 17:47.9 in the 5-kilometer race, the fastest time for any division.

Emily Cadwell, Rocky Mountain:Won the 5A girls golf state championship as a senior.

Kate Clark, Melba: Coaches’ 2A All-Idaho Basketball Player of the Year. Averaged 16.6 points per game while setting a program record for single-season and career 3-pointers.

Delaney Keith, Skyview: Gatorade Idaho Softball Player of the Year. Led the state with 19 home runs and 77 RBIs, and finished the season with a .670 batting average.

Gina Dudley, Capital: Won the 5A girls tennis state championship in a three-set final.

Naya Ojukwu, Mountain View: Gatorade Idaho Basketball Player of the Year and Coaches’ 5A All-Idaho Basketball Player of the Year. Averaged 24.2 points, 10.2 rebounds and 1.8 blocks per game and broke the 5A state tournament scoring record with 87 points.

Violet Rademacher, Rocky Mountain: Coaches’ 5A All-Idaho Soccer Player of the Year.

Audrah Radford, Nampa: Coaches’ 4A All-Idaho Volleyball Player of the Year.

Abbi Roubidoux, Fruitland: Coaches’ 3A All-Idaho Soccer Player of the Year.

Sammy Smith, Boise: Gatorade Idaho Track and Field Athlete of the Year. Won the 1,600 (4 minutes, 50.6 seconds) and the 3,200 (10:33.71) individual titles at the 5A state track meet while helping Boise cruise to the team title.

Annelie Wilson, Horseshoe Bend: Coaches’ 1A Division II All-Idaho Volleyball Player of the Year.

Here were the boys candidates:

Carlos Camacho, Borah: Coaches’ 5A All-Idaho Soccer Player of the Year.

Wheaton Ennis, Eagle: Boys individual champion at 5A golf state tournament. He finished the two-day tournament at 1-over par.

Nathan Green, Borah: Gatorade Idaho Track and Field Athlete of the Year. Set state all-class records in the 1,600 meters (4 minutes, 7.90 seconds) and the 3,200 (8:53.47).

Covy Kelly, Garden Valley: Coaches’ 1A Division I All-Idaho Basketball Player of the Year. Averaged 22.7 points, 5.3 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 2.5 steals per game.

Tyler Medaris, Middleton: Coaches’ 4A All-Idaho Basketball Player of the Year. Averaged 15.7 points, 9.8 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.4 blocks

Hunter Mitchell, Kuna: Four-time state champion, the 30th in state history.

Grady Mylander, Nampa Christian: Won the 2A individual cross-country title with a time of 15:18.8 in the 5-kilometer race, the fastest time for any division.

Ryan Olson, Centennial: Won the 5A boys tennis state championship, taking both sets in tiebreakers in the final.

Brody Rowbury, Meridian: Coaches’ 5A All-Idaho Basketball Player of the Year. Averaged 17.7 points and 9.3 rebounds despite sitting out the fourth quarter of many blowouts.

Brett Spencer, Weiser: Coaches’ 3A All-Idaho Football Player of the Year. Threw for 2,229 yards and 27 TDs, and ran for another 825 yards and 12 TDs.
