Idaho schools honor seniors by joining the Be The Light campaign

Schools across Idaho turned on their stadium lights Friday and invited the public to honor their seniors during the coronavirus pandemic.

The spreading disease forced Idaho’s high school seniors out of the classroom and could cancel their graduations and spring sports seasons. So Idaho schools joined a national movement of burning their stadium lights to offer a ray of hope for those seniors and the rest of their student body.

Athletes, parents and fans drove past the stadiums starting at 8:20 p.m. — 20:20 on the 24-hour clock. They honked their horns and remained in their cars for 20 minutes to follow social distancing guidelines.

Middleton High was the largest school in the Treasure Valley to join the event Friday. Check out the scene from Middleton in the video above.
