Mountain View High freshman Lexy Halladay finished third Saturday in the girls mile at the 2017 Brooks PR Invitational in Seattle.

Halladay, the only freshman in a race with some of the top high school runners in the nation, finished in 4 minutes, 44.24 seconds, .47 seconds behind winner Anna Gibson of Jackson, Wyo. Gibson is a senior signed with Brown University.

Halladay, Gibson and Allie Schadler, who finished second, all trailed defending champ Annie Hill entering the final 100 meters before a dash to the finish line.

Halladay’s time of 4:41.80 she set by winning the adidas Girls’ Dream Mile on June 2 in Boston still stands as the nation’s fastest time this year.

Halladay won Idaho 5A state titles in cross country, the 3,200 and the 1,600 as a freshman. She also ran the anchor leg on Mountain View’s state title-winning 4x400 relay.
