For the first time this season, Mountain View freshman Lexy Halladay and Boise sophomore Eve Jensen will face each other in a high school cross country race.
The 5,000-meter 5A District Three varsity girls championship race begins at 3:30 p.m. Friday at Eagle Island State Park, followed by the boys race at 4 p.m.
Both runners have multiple individual wins this season, highlighted by first-place finishes in the Rob Griak Invitational in Minnesota (Halladay) and Stanford Invitational in California (Jensen).
Jensen’s time of 17 minutes, 15.9 seconds at the Stanford race ranks No. 1 in the state this season, and Halladay ranks second at 17:39.8 from her victory in the Bob Conley Invitational in Pocatello.
