Tony Binder, who led the Lions to three state titles and retired from coaching in 1984, will take over the Borah tennis program this spring from his daughter, Traci Binder, who accepted the head women’s tennis coaching position at NCAA Division III Pacific University in Oregon.
Tony, 72, served as an assistant coach for his daughter the past four years, and he said he jumped at the chance to help Borah and coach his two granddaughters.
Cassidy Binder joins the program as a freshman this spring, and junior Sydnie Binder is the girls singles state runner-up the past two years.
“It likely could be one year, but you never know,” Tony said. “It could be longer. I want to do as much as I can to help Borah out.”
