Jake Luton left the Vandals last month, and announced his decision to join the California junior college program Wednesday night on Twitter.

“Excited to announce that the next chapter of my playing career will be at Ventura college #JUCOPRODUCT,” he wrote.

Ventura finished 8-3 last season and won a second consecutive conference championship.

Both freshmen quarterbacks from last season have transferred to Mountain West programs — Ty Gangi to Nevada and Brandon Jones to San Diego State.

Luton, from Marysville, Wash., played eight games as a freshman for Idaho last season and started one in place of injured Matt Linehan. He threw for 403 yards, one touchdown and four interceptions, and also ran for five TDs last season. He was the No. 1 quarterback in spring camp while Linehan recovered from foot surgery.

Luton will be able to transfer back to a FBS program in 2017, when he’ll be a redshirt junior.
