Idaho colleges roundup (April 19): Idaho golf takes Big Sky lead

Sophie Hausmann set the tournament record and tied Idaho’s school record with a 7-under 65 to propel the Vandals into the lead at the Big Sky Championships on Tuesday at Boulder Creek Golf Club. Hausman is second individually, one stroke behind Montana State’s Jaylee Tait with one round remaining. The Vandals (581) lead Northern Arizona by four strokes. Idaho State (664) is last.

BOISE STATE WOMEN’S GOLF: The Broncos are in eighth place at the Mountain West Championships in Rancho Mirage, Calif., 36 strokes behind leader UNLV with one day left. Samantha Martin is tied for 15th at 8-over 152.

NORTHWEST NAZARENE MEN’S GOLF: The Crusaders finished fourth, 26 strokes behind champion Western Washington, in the GNAC Championships at the Coeur d’Alene Resort. Keynan Fanslow finished at 3-under 210 to place in a tie for sixth, and Jack Strickland shot a school-record, 6-under 65 to move up to eighth. Michael Delie (Mountain View High) tied for 10th.

NNU WOMEN’S GOLF: The Crusaders tied for fourth, 27 strokes behind Simon Fraser, in the GNAC Championships at the Coeur d’Alene Resort. Samantha Miller led NNU with a 15-over 157 and a tie for seventh.

C OF I MEN’S GOLF: The Yotes placed fourth, 58 strokes behind champion Oregon Tech, at the Cascade Conference Championships in Eagle Point, Ore. Reed Burroughs was ninth for the C of I.

C OF I WOMEN’S GOLF: The Yotes finished third, 43 strokes behind Corban, at the CCC Championships in Eagle Point, Ore. Lexi Oropeza (Caldwell High) finished tied for third at 20-over 164, and she and Shaunel Fillmore (Rocky Mountain High) made the all-conference team based on season scores.
