Steve Steele takes over the Crusders’ program after spending the past three seasons as a top assistant with GNAC rival Seattle Pacific.
Steele also served as an assistant at Concordia Irvine (Calif.). Prior to that, he was a coach and teacher at Brea Olinda High in California for more than a decade.
Steele replaces Brian Holsinger, who resigned last month to pursue a coaching position in the Pac-12.
COLLEGE OF IDAHO VOLLEYBALL: The Coyotes were picked to finish second in a vote of the 11 Cascade Conference coaches. Eastern Oregon is projected to win the conference with nine first-place votes and 117 points. The C of I received 103 points, but no first-place votes. Rounding out the top five are Southern Oregon (one first-place vote, 102 points), Northwest (one first-place vote, 93 points) and Corban (77 points). The Coyotes return five starters from a team that made bracket play at the NAIA Championships last season.
