The College of Idaho football team, in its third season back, was picked fifth in the Frontier Conference preseason coaches’ poll released at media day Tuesday.

The Yotes (4-7, 4-6 Frontier) finished in a four-way tie for fourth in the eight-team league last season. They are 8-14 (7-13 Frontier) since the program was revived in 2014.

“It’s tough to stay close in the Frontier Conference,” head coach Mike Moroski said. “It is another level to win games in this league.”

C of I, which returns nine offensive and eight defensive starters, begins the 2016 season against Montana Western at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 3, at Simplot Stadium in Caldwell.

Southern Oregon, an NAIA national finalist the past two seasons, was selected first with 6-of-8 first-place votes.
