Lewis-Clark State baseball advances at World Series

Pinch-hitter Dylan Tashjian hit a walk-off three-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning late Monday night to propel the Warriors to a 3-0 victory over Faulkner (Ala.) at the NAIA World Series at Harris Field.

It was the second straight walk-off game winner for Tashjian, who had an RBI single in LCSC’s 2-1 win over Sciences & Arts (Okla.) in Friday’s opening round.

LCSC became only the third World Series team in 40 years to win back-to-back games in walk-off fashion. LSU-Shreveport did it in 2011, and Southeast Oklahoma’s two wins came in 1977.

The Warriors continued their run with an 11-7 victory over Tennessee Wesleyan on Tuesday.

LCSC (51-7) is the only unbeaten team left in the double-elimination tournament and is guaranteed at least a third-place finish. The Warriors will take on Bellevue (Neb.) in the semifinals Wednesday night.
