Defending conference champion Payton Lewis (Nampa Christian High) and Ellie Logan were runners-up in the men’s decathlon and women’s heptathlon, respectively, at the GNAC Multi-Event Championships on Tuesday.
Lewis led the six-man field in the discus (126 feet) and pole vault (15-11 3/4), and came six points shy of the event record with 6,611 points, but Cody Thomas of Alaska Anchorage shattered his prior mark and won his third title with 7,201.
Logan was first among 10 women in the javelin (147-2) and finished with 4,541 points. Maliea Luquin of Seattle Pacific won at 4,738 points. Kawena Warren (fourth, 4,105), Jordan Morris (Eagle High; fifth, 4,065) and Lauren Duval (eighth, 3,710) also placed in the top eight to score team points for NNU.
IDAHO WOMEN’S TENNIS: The Vandals (19-8) will make their third straight NCAA Tournament appearance and face No. 8 seed Pepperdine (21-2) on May 13 in Malibu, Calif.
