Two Treasure Valley players make GNAC softball first team

Northwest Nazarene 1B Kylie Orr (Mountain View High) was named the Great Northwest Athletic Conference softball freshman of the year Monday, and junior transfer pitcher Brooke Bonsen is one of two newcomers of the year.

Orr led the Crusaders with a .393 batting average, 59 hits, 12 doubles, five home runs, 35 RBIs and a .587 slugging percentage. She also made the All-GNAC first team, along with Montana State Billings sophomore outfielder Heather Tracy (Capital High). Tracy hit .429 with seven homers, 24 RBIs and 16 stolen bases.

Bonsen, who went 9-12 with a 3.56 ERA, made the second team. NNU freshman Cassidy Fifield received honorable mention after hitting .331 with three homers, 20 RBIs and 26 steals.

COLLEGE OF IDAHO MEN’S BASKETBALL: Parma High senior Tanner Kramer, the Idaho Statesman’s 3A All-Idaho Player of the Year, announced his commitment to the Yotes on Monday.

IDAHO MEN’S GOLF: The Vandals announced the signings of four players, including Cal Baptist transfer Chris Carew (Eagle High). J.T. Bloomer (Boise High) also will play in 2016-17 after redshirting this season.
