Idaho colleges roundup (March 29): Northwest Nazarene men’s golf wins home tourney

Jack Strickland finished at 2-over 218 to beat two teammates by five strokes, and the Crusaders won the six-team NNU Crusader Invitational at Ridgecrest Golf Club. Keynan Fanslow and Mike Delie (Mountain View High) tied for second, and Justin Higgins (Skyview High) tied for fourth at 10-over for NNU, which won by 24 strokes over Concordia and Lewis-Clark State at 24-over 888. The College of Idaho was last at 996.

NNU WOMEN’S GOLF: The Crusaders were second in the six-team NNU Crusader Invitational at Ridgecrest, six strokes behind Lewis-Clark State. Haley Gochnour (Cole Valley Christian) led NNU with a fourth-place finish at 19-over 163. The College of Idaho was fifth, 80 strokes back.

BOISE STATE SOFTBALL: The Broncos (8-25, 0-5) were swept by Fresno State in a Mountain West doubleheader at Dona Larsen Park, losing 17-8 in five innings and 14-4 in six. The Bulldogs (20-9-1, 2-0), ranked 25th in this week’s coaches poll, hit five home runs. The teams play again at noon Wednesday.
