Idaho colleges roundup (Feb. 14): College of Idaho men’s basketball drops close game

The Yotes had an eight-point lead with 12 minutes remaining, but the Southern Oregon Raiders rallied in the second half for the 10th time in Cascade Conference play this season for a 76-72 victory Sunday. SOU (23-5, 16-2 Cascade) moves back into a tie for the league lead with No. 8 Northwest Christian. Joey Nebeker (Melba High) had 19 points to lead the fourth-place Yotes (16-12, 11-8), who are locked into the conference tournament entering Saturday’s regular-season finale at Walla Walla (4-22, 2-16).

BOISE STATE WRESTLING: The Broncos (3-8, 1-3 Pac-12) dropped their sixth straight dual, losing to Cal Poly 23-15 in an outdoor event in San Luis Obispo, Calif. Geordan Martinez won by fall at 149 pounds, and Rami Haddadin (125) Chris Castillo (157), Taylor West (165) earned decisions.

C OF I WOMEN’S BASKETBALL: The Yotes (8-17, 7-12) lost to No. 6 Southern Oregon 92-48 in Ashland, Ore. Petra Lumpert, Kiara Skinner and Ryleigh Swagerty had eight points apiece.

C OF I BASEBALL: Sam Grise hit an RBI single in the seventh inning to give the Yotes (10-1) a 4-3 victory over Puget Sound in Caldwell.

IDAHO WOMEN’S BASKETBALL: The Vandals (18-7, 10-3 Big Sky) snapped North Dakota’s seven-game win streak with a 65-59 victory Saturday in Grand Forks, N.D. Christina Salvatore led Idaho with 20 points.

BOISE STATE MEN’S TENNIS: The No. 59 Broncos (5-4) were swept for the third time this season, losing 4-0 to BYU on Saturday in Provo, Utah.

NORTHWEST NAZARENE WOMEN’S BASKETBALL: The Crusaders (9-13, 7-9) beat host Alaska Fairbanks 78-74 late Saturday to maintain the GNAC’s sixth and final conference tournament berth with four games (all home) remaining. Lexi Tubbs led five in double figures with 13 points.

NNU BASEBALL: The Crusaders (3-3) split with Dixie State in St. George, Utah, on Saturday. NNU lost the first game 5-0 and won the second 15-11.
