College of Idaho basketball comes back to beat Evergreen
Joey Nebeker scored a game-high 34 points to lead the Coyotes past the Geoducks 88-81 on Wednedsay night.
Nebeker (Melba High) scored 22 of his total in the second half, helping to erase an eight-point deficit. It was the sophomore’s fourth 30-point game this season.
C of I (8-6, 3-2 Cascade) saw three starters reach double figures. It was the Coyotes 22nd straight home conference win.
Evergreen (5-9, 2-4) was led by Danny Powell, who scored 30 points and pulled down a school-record 21 rebounds.
C OF I WOMEN’S BASKETBALL: Jaycin Tini scored 16 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead the Coyotes to a 71-66 win over Evergreen.
It was coach Mark Owen’s 200th career win.
Evergreen (1-10, 1-5 Cascade) rallied from 17 points down to cut the lead to 65-64 with 1:23 to play, but C of I (3-8, 2-3) was able to hold on. Petra Lumpert and Kiara Skinner combined to go 6-of-6 from the free-throw line in the final minute.
Gabi Fenumiai led the Geoducks with 15 points.
