Joey Nebeker (Melba High) had 21 points, seven rebounds, four steals and three blocked shots, and the Coyotes beat the Crusaders 75-71 in front of a capacity crowd of 2,422 at the J.A. Albertson Activities Center. Nebeker had consecutive steals, the second followed by a dunk, to give the hosts the lead for good at 40-38 with 16 minutes, 10 seconds left. Detwon Rogers scored 23 for NNU, which led 34-30 at halftime.
IDAHO STATE FOOTBALL: Defensive tackle Tyler Kuder (Payette High) was named to the All-Big Sky first team, which was released Tuesday. The fifth-year senior had 92 tackles, including 11 for loss, 3 1/2 sacks and two forced fumbles this season. Senior wide receiver Madison Mangum (Timberline High) and senior running back Xavier Finney made the second team. Junior wide receiver KW Williams, senior guard Wesley Wingrove and senior center Christian Diehm received honorable mention.
BOISE STATE CROSS COUNTRY: Freshman Allie Ostrander, who finished second at the NCAA Championships, is one of four finalists in her sport for the Collegiate Women Sports Awards’ Honda Sport Award. The winner will be announced next week and become a finalist for the Collegiate Woman Athlete of the Year.
NNU VOLLEYBALL: Sophomores middle blocker Madi Ferrell (unanimous selection) and sophomore outside hitter Kendra Bodine were named to the All-GNAC first team. Sophomore setter Hailey Cook (Skyview High) and senior middle blocker Jenna Caywood (Cole Valley Christian) earned honorable mention.
