Idaho colleges roundup: NNU senior is GNAC soccer player of the year

Northwest Nazarene midfielder Julio Castillo set a Great Northwest Athletic Conference record with 15 assists this fall, the fourth most in NCAA Division II this season. He also scored four goals in 18 games, helping the Crusaders to a third-place finish in the GNAC and a 12-6-1 record. Castillo made the All-GNAC first team, as did teammate Abraham Placito, a junior defender. Treasure Valley graduates Erik Anderson (Boise High, second team) and Luke Broz (Boise High, honorable mention) were also honored by the GNAC.

BOISE STATE SOFTBALL SIGNS SEVEN: The new players are 1B/OF Brianna Ambrose (Peoria, Ariz.), SS Isabelle Butler (Boise High), P Kelsey Broadus (Albany, Ore.), SS Karlee Johnson (Phoenix), P Veronica Lynch (Simi Valley, Calif.), OF Elaina Mayer (Lincoln, Neb.) and SS Jessica McKay (Chehalis, Wash.).

BSU GYMNASTICS: The Broncos signed Courtney McGregor (New Zealand), Isabella Amado (Virginia Beach, Va.) and McKinley Pavicic (Las Vegas).

BSU WOMEN’S TENNIS: The Broncos signed Lilian Poling (West Point, N.Y.), who is rated the No. 54 prospect in the nation by TennisRecruiting.net

COLLEGE OF IDAHO MEN’S SOCCER: The Coyotes lost to No. 12 Rocky Mountain 3-1 in a Cascade Conference Championships quarterfinal in Springfield, Ore. Admir Selimovic (Mountain View High) scored the only goal for the C of I, which ends its season 7-8-0.
