The College of Idaho hits the road at noon Saturday for its second to last game of the season and a rematch with the Mountaineers, whom the Yotes topped 40-28 in the season opener.

College of Idaho (3-6, 3-5 Frontier Conference) quarterback Teejay Gordon is coming off a school-record 371 passing yards in a 27-23 loss to No. 13 Montana Western, the Yotes’ fourth loss by a touchdown or less. The afternoon boosted Gordon to third in the conference with 1,957 passing yards.

Tyler Higby (Borah High) benefitted from Gordon’s big day, becoming the third player in school history with 10 or more catches with 10 receptions for 168 yards and a touchdown. Austin Diffey (Eagle High) caught eight passes for 67 yards in his second eight-catch game of the season.

The College of Idaho ran for 268 yards in its Aug. 29 meeting against Eastern Oregon (3-6, 3-5). The Yotes ran for 112 yards last week, their lowest total since restarting football in 2014. But the Mountaineers’ run defense ranks last in the Frontier Conference at an average of 239.2 yards allowed per game.

Gary Posten (Emmett High) leads the Eastern Oregon defense and the Frontier Conference with 111 tackles, 32 tackles clear of second place.

The Yotes close out the season at home Nov. 14 vs. Carroll College.
