College of Idaho football finishes with win; Lenhardt breaks school receiving record

Junior running back Zach Garzoli rushed for a career-high 163 yards, and Marcus Lenhardt (Eagle High) became the first 1,000-yard receiver in College of Idaho history as the Coyotes closed out their season with a 31-13 win over Montana State-Northern on Saturday

Garzoli had a 58-yard run in the first quarter and added a 16-yard scoring run in the second quarter as the Coyotes (4-7, 3-7 Frontier) jumped out to a 17-3 halftime lead.

Lenhardt capped a strong junior season with 11 receptions for 148 yards. He surpassed R.C. Owens’ single-season receiving yard mark of 905 yards with a first-quarter grab, and eclipsed the 1,000-yard mark for a season with a third-quarter catch.

Lenhardt finishes the season with 67 catches for 1,021 yards and five TDs.

The Yotes gave up their only touchdown when the Lights (1-9, 1-9) scored with 1:46 left in the game.

C of I freshman quarterback Darius-James Peterson passed for 107 yards and rushed for 58 and a touchdown as the Yotes gained 282 yards on the ground.

Senior defensive back Nate Moore (Mountain View High) had 14 tackles to finish the season with a school-record 119 stops.
