Northwest Nazarene women’s soccer earns first win of season

Emily Wilkins scored the winning goal in the 83rd minute, and Northwest Nazarene (1-2) defeated Warner Pacific 3-2 in a nonconference women’s soccer game Tuesday afternoon. Wilkins rebounded a saved header from Ashley Cook-Cox to put NNU (1-2) ahead after both teams scored twice before halftime. Madi Taylor and Kayla Williams also scored for the Crusaders, who outshot the Knights 17-2 in the second half.

COLLEGE OF IDAHO VOLLEYBALL: The Yotes (6-4) dropped one spot to No. 12 in the first NAIA regular-season poll of 2016. They are 2-3 against teams in the current Top 25 and defeated then-No. 15 Rocky Mountain in August.

BOISE STATE MEN’S CROSS COUNTRY: Junior Michael Vennard is the Mountain West athlete of the week.

NNU MEN’S SOCCER: Sophomore forward Logan Wood is the GNAC offensive player of the week.

NNU VOLLEYBALL: Sophomore libero Shayli Siegfried is the GNAC defensive player of the week.
