Former Boise State safety Darian Thompson signed a four-year NFL contract with the New York Giants on Wednesday.

Thompson, a third-round pick (71st overall), alternated working at safety with the first-team defense Wednesday, recovering a fumble.

“He has a nose for the football whether it’s picking a ball off or being able to scoop-and-score, which he showed today,” coach Ben McAdoo told Newsday. “That part of the game comes natural for him.”

Thompson started 44 games at Boise State and had 19 career interceptions.
