A unique view of Boise State’s blue turf

Getting a peek at Boise State's blue turf is on the bucket list of most Boise visitors. Trouble is, the public typically isn’t allowed on the Broncos’ iconic home field — they can only look at it from a viewing platform in the Allen Noble Hall of Fame.

This 360-degree video is your chance to explore the view from the 50-yard line at Albertsons Stadium.

When Bronco Stadium needed new AstroTurf in 1986, then-Athletic Director Gene Bleymaier had the idea to go blue. Other schools had used special colors in their end zones, but the Broncos were the first team in the world to color an entire field blue.

The trademarked turf quickly became legend. Other schools across the U.S. have followed the Bronco lead and installed blue-hued fields.
