Brown joins Utah State staff
Julius Brown was hired as the Aggies’ cornerbacks coach.
Utah State coach Matt Wells announced the move Wednesday.
The former Boise State cornerback spent the past two seasons at his alma mater as secondary coach and recruiting coordinator.
Brown followed Boise State coach Bryan Harsin from Arkansas State to join the Broncos’ staff in 2014. He and the Broncos parted ways in January.
This past season, the Broncos allowed nine pass plays of 50-plus yards — tied for the fourth-most in the nation. The team grabbed 22 interceptions, also tied for fourth-most, with eight from cornerbacks.
Brown was a cornerback for the Broncos from 1999 to 2003, starting the final three years. His previous jobs include stints as a Capital High defensive backs coach (2005), Boise State graduate assistant in football operations (2006), Boise State offensive graduate assistant (2007-08), Boise State director of player personnel (2009-11), Troy cornerbacks coach (2012) and Arkansas State cornerbacks and nickels coach (2013).
