Boise State football adds another standout from Portland

For the second straight day, the Broncos team received a verbal commitment from a Portland-area recruit. Jesuit High athlete Jordan Happle committed to the Broncos on Sunday, just hours after receiving an offer while on his official visit.

Happle likely will play defensive back. He was the two-time Metro League Defensive Player of the Year as a safety while also playing receiver, adding 636 receiving yards this season for the 6A state champs. According to The Oregonian, Happle (6-foot-2, 190 pounds) also had offers from Eastern Washington, Hawaii and Montana State.

The Broncos received a commitment Saturday from Portland defensive end Kayode Rufai (Lincoln High) and earlier this month from Lebanon (Ore.) tight end John Bates.

Also Sunday, linebacker commitment Ali’i Niumatalolo said he will enroll this summer and take his church mission in the spring. Signing day for football is Wednesday.
