Boise State picks up commitment from running back Mattison

Less than 24 hours after losing a highly-touted running back commitment, the Boise State football team picked up another a highly-touted running back commitment.

Alexander Mattison, a 6-foot, 200-pound back from San Bernardino (Calif.) High, verbally committed to the Broncos on Sunday. The Broncos lost four-star commitment Damarea Crockett on Saturday when he flipped to Missouri, but gained quarterback Jake Constantine the same day.

In Mattison, the Broncos get a strong athlete, one that posted back-to-back 2,000-yard seasons, picking up 2,057 yards as a senior and 2,017 as a junior. He combined to rush for 48 touchdowns the last two seasons. He also, like Crockett, is considered one of the nation’s top running backs. He’s ranked by as the No. 16 running back nationally, 47th by and 45th by

Boise State coach Bryan Harsin twice tweeted “GO BRONCOS” on Sunday, indicating a verbal commitment. Only Mattison’s was immediately known. Signing day for football is Feb. 3.
