Who is Boise State’s best player in new college football game? See ratings here

The latest edition of EA Sports’ College Football video game series is being released on July 9.

Whether it’s simply building a dynasty on Boise State’s famous blue field or winning the national championship with a Sun Belt team, College Football 27 gives fans the chance to live their college football dreams via the game world.

The third iteration of the game, since it was originally discontinued in 2014, allows fans to play with all 138 Football Bowl Subdivision teams across all 10 conferences, including the newly revived Pac-12.

The first thing Bronco Nation members will want to know is: How good is Boise State?

If you’re looking to play a one-off game or try to start something more, the Broncos have an overall rating of 80 — an 82 rating on offense and 78 on defense. EA doesn’t currently list special team ratings.

Boise State is the Pac-12’s highest-rated team, ahead of San Diego State (77), Texas State (77) and Fresno State (76).

Who are Boise State’s highest-ranked players?

For the first time since the game was rebooted in 2024, the Broncos enter the season without a single player rated 90 or higher on a scale of 99. Running back Ashton Jeanty earned a midseason upgrade that tied for a game-best 97 in 2024, while left tackle Kage Casey was rated a 90 heading into last season. Both players were drafted into the NFL.

However, multiple Bronco players rank in the high 80s, including a team-best 89 from redshirt senior edge Jayden Virgin-Morgan.

Offensive players

There are high expectations on junior running back Dylan Riley in 2026, and EA clearly agrees with his talent. Riley is the Broncos’ highest-rated offensive player at 88 overall, and boasts exceptionally high stats in acceleration (92), agility (91) and speed (90).

Redshirt senior quarterback Maddux Madsen is not far behind Riley, having earned an 87 overall rating for his final collegiate season. Madsen rates highest in midrange throws (93) and is not far behind in short-range (90) and deep throws (87). He also has an awareness rating of 92 and stamina of 95, but a lower rating of 77 when throwing under pressure.

Madsen is also the highest-rated quarterback in the new Pac-12, one point ahead of Texas State’s Brad Jackson’s 86 rating.

If you do plan to throw the ball with Madsen, your best option at receiver will be sixth-year player Ben Ford. While Ford’s availability for the start of the 2026 season is in doubt due to injury, that’s not a problem in the game. He has an 80 overall rating and ranks highly in acceleration (90), speed (88) and jumping (84).

Other notable offensive players:

RG Roger Carreon, 86

RB Sire Gaines, 85

RB Juelz Goff, 81

RT Daylon Metoyer, 80

TE Matt Wagner, 79

Defensive players

Virgin-Morgan continues the trend in recent years of Boise State producing excellent edge rushers, and he leads the entire team with an 89 rating this coming season. His high rating is driven by a 97 in awareness, accompanied by 95’s in both play recognition and pursuit.

Fellow edge rusher Max Stege is the Broncos’ third-highest defensive player. The senior has been given a rating of 81, including 91 in toughness, 90 in awareness and 88 in play recognition.

The pair of edge rushers are joined in the top three by redshirt junior cornerback JeRico Washington, who has an overall rating of 84. The transfer from Kennesaw State has been given a 95 rating in hit power, 92 in stamina and 90 in speed.

Other notable defensive players:

CB Jaden Mickey, 79

DT David Latu, 78

CB Sherrod Smith, 77

S Roman Tillman, 76

LB Boen Phelps, 75
