Kickoff time announced for big Boise State-UNLV game. Ready for a full day Oct. 18?
The marquee game on the Mountain West regular season schedule will kick off on a sunny afternoon (well, weather to be determined) at Albertsons Stadium.
Boise State announced in a release Monday that the Oct. 18 home game against UNLV will start at 1:30 p.m. and air on Fox Sports 1. It’s the earliest start to a home game so far this season, with some times still to be determined.
The last time the Rebels visited Albertsons Stadium, they watched a swarm of fans flood the blue turf — and tear down a goalpost — after Boise State captured the Mountain West championship last December with a 21-7 win to secure a spot in the College Football Playoff. The two teams also played in the 2023 conference title game, with the Broncos winning that one 44-20 in Las Vegas.
Boise State beat UNLV last year in the regular season as well, winning 29-24 in Vegas.
The Broncos lead the all-time series 11-3, and the last time the Rebels won was in 1976.
UNLV, which went 11-3 last season and defeated Cal in the LA Bowl, is the Mountain West’s last unbeaten team this year, standing at 5-0 overall and 1-0 in the league under new coach Dan Mullen. The Rebels host Air Force this weekend; Boise State welcomes New Mexico to Albertsons Stadium on Saturday for a 7:45 p.m. kickoff.
The Oct. 18 matchup very well could decide who grabs the regular season Mountain West title and gets to host the championship game. UNLV has been receiving votes in both The Associated Press Top 25 and the USA Today Coaches Poll. The Rebels received 19 points in the latest AP poll, ranking 32nd in the nation, and 21 points in the other poll, which would place them 34th.
With the kickoff time set for this game, the Broncos have only two remaining without start times: home contests vs. Fresno State and Colorado State. All of the remaining games are Mountain West matchups.
