Nighttime kickoff announced for Boise State’s home game against New Mexico
Boise State football will find itself playing under the lights on The Blue again in a couple of weeks.
The program announced Monday afternoon that its Mountain West game against New Mexico, scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 11, at Albertsons Stadium, will kick off at 7:45 p.m. The game will air nationally on Fox Sports 1.
Boise State’s previous two home games this season have kicked off at 7 p.m. (Eastern Washington) and 5:30 p.m. (App State).
The Broncos will enter the matchup defending a 14-game home winning streak, which ties them for the third-longest active streak in the nation, alongside Alabama. Boise State also welcomes a New Mexico team that it has beaten 13 times out of 14, with the only loss coming back in 2015 when the Lobos managed a 34-21 victory at Albertsons Stadium.
However, New Mexico will likely be traveling to Idaho with a pep in its step. The Lobos are 3-1, having won three games straight after losing their opening game to a Michigan team that is now ranked within The Associated Press Top 25.
The Lobos’ hot start comes under a man familiar with the Gem State: former Idaho Vandals coach Jason Eck.
Eck spent three years with the Vandals, guiding them to FCS playoff appearances in all three seasons, including the quarterfinals each of the past two seasons.
Both teams will also enter the matchup off the back of games this coming weekend; Boise State with a tricky road trip to No. 21 Notre Dame, while New Mexico has an easier task as it travels to a San Jose State team with a 1-3 record.
