The preseason AP Top 25 football poll is out. Did Boise State make it?
Boise State football will begin the 2025 season ranked among the Top 25 teams in the country.
The Broncos squeezed in at No. 25 in the initial Associated Press Top 25 poll, marking the first time since 2018 that they were included in the preseason rankings.
The inclusion means Boise State has been ranked in 14 consecutive polls, after spending most of the 2024 season in the Top 25 while enjoying a 12-2 campaign. The Broncos were ranked No. 8 in the final poll, having qualified for the College Football Playoff before falling to Penn State in the Fiesta Bowl.
The Nittany Lions were ranked No. 2 in the preseason poll.
Boise State was the only Group of Five school in the preseason Top 25. The next-closest team from a G5 conference — the Mountain West, Sun Belt, American Athletic and Mid-American conferences, and Conference USA — was Tulane (AAC), which wasn’t ranked but received 23 points.
Mountain West foe UNLV received 21 points.
The Broncos do have a preseason Top 25 team on their schedule: No. 6 Notre Dame. BSU will visit South Bend to play the Fighting Irish on Oct. 4.
The Broncos were also the only G5 team to be ranked in the coaches poll, coming in at No. 25 there as well.
Boise State received 191 points in the preseason AP poll, ranking just behind No. 24 Tennessee (192 points).
Boise State kicks off its season on Aug. 28 on the road in Tampa, where it will play South Florida.
